Let's talk about another piece of technology you're probably familiar with. In a wireless dog fence system, a low-voltage cable is buried just below the surface of the lawn. The dog collar senses the current in the buried cable and alerts the dog of the established boundaries. Your robotic mower will work in the same way. When it senses the perimeter wire, the robot will redirect itself and continue to mow inside the working area. It will then automatically charge and restart whenever needed.

When you use only the best robotic mowers, the anti-theft features come standard. If a criminal lifts a robot without entering a PIN, an alarm will sound. If they take it outside its perimeter wire, it will disable itself and an alarm will sound. If a thief is still determined to drive away with an ear-splitting alarm in their vehicle, the robots also have 24/7 GPS monitoring. We then notify the authorities and track the robot to its exact location.

Nearly any lawn can be fitted with a robotic mower. We have mowers that can handle up to a 45º slope. No. This has become a talking point when it comes to electric vehicles, but to be clear, the consensus is that the environmental impacts of electric and gasoline vehicles are comparable at 2-3 years, but not beyond.

On the electric side, the emissions occur in the mining for lithium ion batteries and the power source that charges the battery throughout its lifetime. Currently, it is not an easy process to recycle these batteries (which would dramatically reduce new mining emissions), but with the rise in battery demand, a recycling process is being researched feverishly. We fully believe this issue will be resolved by entrepreneurs and innovation.

That being said, there are some major differences in this debate when it comes to lawn mowers. First, the Li batteries required to run an electic vehicle are massive, whereas that of a robotic mower is about the size of a cell phone. This means the mower battery requires far less resources and emissions to produce. Also, robotic mowers require very little energy to charge, so it is not responsible for as much carbon at the power source. Finally, gasoline lawn mowers can be terribly inefficient.

A Swedish study shows that using a gasoline mower for one hour has the same carbon output as a 100-mile trip in an average sedan. According to the EPA, one gas lawn mower will emit 89 pounds of CO2 and 34 pounds of other pollutants every year, or 11 times as much pollution by the hour as a new car!
